The Rules

The Rules

- Please put the title of the challenge in the labels box when you post.

- Each challenge is different and offers its own unique caveats and rules, so please read them carefully. Feel free to ask questions prior to taking up the challenge if something is unclear.

- If a challenge lists a specific genre, you MUST write that genre. If no genre is listed, you may choose any you wish.

- For a more open challenge, follow the individual challenge rules listed first.

- For an additional challenge, everything listed in a challenge (places, objects, etc.) MUST be somehow incorporated into your story. How you do that is entirely up to you, however, stringing together a list of objects in a sentence is not allowed (because we know you're more creative than that!).

- The challenge lists, locations, instructions, etc., represent the minimum requirements for your story; you do not need to limit yourself only to what is listed there.

- If a challenge offers you an "or" caveat (i.e.Rome, Paris or NYC) then you only need to choose one.

- Currently, there is no word limit; write as little as you want or as much as you need to tell your story.

- Please proofread your work; spell check will not catch most grammatical errors. We all have technical writing challenges; some of us are bad spellers, some are bad typists, some totally forget words (see me raising my hand?). This isn't about how technically skilled you are, and the good news is that other members are willing to act as proofreaders; If you are a member willing to do this I suggest adding that to your profile. All writers benefit from a second pair of eyes. I am always willing to do it; email your story to me at jenn9454@yahoo.com and I will do a quick proofread/copy edit for you before you publish. Otherwise, I will correct any typos I come across when I read your published story. ;)

- Sincere compliments are of course always encouraged. If you want constructive criticism, please ask for it in the comment field. If you respond to such a request, please make sure your comment is constructive.

- This is a place to explore creativity through writing, and I don't believe in censoring people or their ideas provided they are not harmful and/or intentionally disrespectful. Remember, freedom of expression is not limited only to things we each like and agree with; we might not politically or philosophically agree with an idea that's expressed, however, please keep the focus.

- HAVE FUN!!

- If you have any problems publishing or with anything in general, please feel free to email me anytime. ;)
